Apple buys Siri
According to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and others, Apple acquired the startup Siri. No other details are available from either company.
For example, Siri users can speak commands like “find a table for two at 9 tonight” or “send a taxi to my house”; using GPS and speech-recognition technology, the application translates the commands and uses search algorithms to find answers.
What Siri does is quite brilliant. Because it uses natural voice search for its queries, it’s easier for users to specify what they want to happen and then to immediately take action
Siri’s free app is connected to a whole ecosystem of Web services and programming interfaces, and has the ability to activate other applications that reside on a smartphone
Tom,
Congratulations on Siri and having the opportunity to see it come alive commercially.
All the best,
Con
